    When I was eating my normal meal, meat with rice, or roast potatoes or white bread followed by a bowl of ice cream with chocolate sauce or some other dessert also eating normal milk chocolate my morning fasting blood sugar level was around 8.5-8.7. I have since cut out all carbs, no potatoes, rice, bread and as well as all desserts and all the food I eat has a GI below 50, I find that my morning fasting blood sugar level is around 8.5-8.7. No difference!. Might as well go back to eating what I liked.

    I haven't had any issues with a sensor falling off, or coming undone. They shut down after 6 to 8 days. Says it can no longer read the sensor, put on a new one. At the rate mine are failing like this, my 3 month supply of sensors will be gone in 5 weeks. Insurance says too soon to request next batch.

    The FreeStyle Libre 3 does come with a Reader. I just purchased Libre 3 after using 2 for a while. I didn't use my iphone because with the Libre 2 if the sensor wasn't compatiable you couldn't rescan. I do have to take the reader with me but it beats taking test strips, the test strip reader and alcohol pads and then having to prick my finders multiple times. I love the cgm. I have used the Dexcom and found it easier to use but my insurance pays for the Libre 3 only. I am on insulin and I sometimes have lows and I am glad for the alarms.

      I am a very new user of the reader, just switched over (maybe) from Dexcom. They are sending me a replacement reader because I can't hear any of the signals, even with high setting. Is the alarm loud enough to wake you up at night? If not, I'll have to pay the big bucks for Dexcom I guess. The whole point of my CGM use is safety and warning for lows. I've tried to find an example of the alarm sound online but no luck.

    • @Antionette-yi8bo
      @Antionette-yi8bo 9 днів тому

      @@catherinezilber7677 I personally do not feel you will have any problems hearing the alarm. It is like an ignoring beep and it is definitely loud enough. You can turn the volume up. I have been woken several times out of a deep sleep with the alarm going off. And then I get up and fingerstick. That is why I use a cgm for the lows that I have and I have never slept through an alarm. That is from using the reader. And I forgot to mention I have some hearing loss and I am hearing the alarm ok. I hope it works for you. I am so glad to not have to prick my finger and know when I am having a low. Also all of this is with the Libre 2. I haven't experience how the alarm sounds with the Libre 3 yet.

    The Libre is potentially dangerous. The results are delayed, often wrong, the arrows are totally random (and could easily be fixed by looking at previous results) and it costs the NHS far too much for its ONLY use... retrospective graphs. Don't listen to the excuses that people give for this. It's a flawed device for use in tracking your current blood sugar. It's ONLY use is for retrospective graphs.

    I'm interested in the differences in min/max readings of the 2 sensors. Using the roller coaster analogy, in the difference between either cgm a difference in timing or is there an actual difference in range? I see how timing would matter for those on insulin but those trying to stay off meds need to know the range to find out if there's an actual problem. A1c only gives an average and could hide large spikes. As an aside, do you have a recommendation for a finger stick is inexpensive and accurate?

    My fix it myself work well for years. Very low carb, no sugar, Berberin and Vinegar. Lots of exercise etc. Then I had to go on Metformin and it helped for a couple years then suddenly my fasting shot up to 170-200 and stayed there. Dr added Basal Insulin one shot per day now fasting is 90 perfect but still I avoid carbs and no sugar ever. So do what you can naturally but along the way meds have their place. My goal is to just do Basal and super low carb and exercise and hope to never need mealtime Insulin shots.

    Thank you. I have been trying to get a CGM for 13 years and only recently got in 2023. But the insurance tried to get me to take freestyle 14 without a reader because they were no longer being made. So, I had to argue to get a freestyle 2 and reader for every reason you stated that I didn't know, but what argued. Because the most important thing that you said was ease of use. Because I, too, test myself 10 to 18 times a day. And because a smart device has too many functions, it means that having a devoted device is important. Now, if it could be paired with a reader and a phone so you can actually keep a record of readings on the phone and make it easier to transfer to your medical file, it would be nice. Because I have not yet been able to transfer all my readings into my medical file because my clinic doesn't have the ability to take that info. The best advice I have been given to get that info to my file is right it down by hand and hand in. So, transferring the info into my medical file should be the next video about CGMs. Because yes, I have an easy way to monitor my sugars is great but if it does get into my medical file, it does nothing to help my doctor see the daily trouble I have. My daily readings look like a sign wave because I am trying to stabilize myself to work a full-time job because they say Type 1 is not a permanent disability. So, having to jump through hoops trying to prove I can't work 40 hours a week. Any words I can say to my doctors to listen to me that most of my day is just trying to stabilize my sugars? Thank you for your validation of why using an App and smartphone is dangerous when you need a reading in a sec, not 10 or 20 seconds, and needing eyes on a screen rather than just a push of button and read. Plus, a reader can be used by not just you. If you pass out, someone can read you and not have to worry if your phone is locked. So, we need to have a reader 1st and smartphone as a backup and storage device, not as the main use. My opinion. I haven't learned how to transfer all the info from my reader to a Word file. Any advice to get my read info into my medical file so my doctor knows what I am dealing with daily?

    1:57 Just a minor correction, but the guardian sensors (including the 4th) are not guaranteed to last up to 7 days. They're supposed to last up to 6-to-7 days according to their technical support when I had phoned in. However, from my own experience, they only lasted up to 4-to-5 days and always gave major inaccurate readings (sometimes *hundreds* of points in difference), sometimes refusing calibrations and not allowing me to give myself insulin at times due to said attempts at calibration (first attempt it has you wait 15 minutes before attempting another calibration, however if it doesn't like that reading neither it makes you wait 2-to-3 *hours* before you can attempt *again*, wasting test strips). The final straw was the terrible experience with technical support not understanding that the machine nearly overdosed me twice with the pump due to the sensor's constant inaccuracies. Their "6-day algorithm" is massively flawed. Months ago, I had spoken with my endo and I'm much happier on the DexCom G7. Never going back to Medtronic's technologies.

    I just finished doing an experiment wearing both the G7 and the Libre 3 to see the accuracy between the 2 devices. (Sample of the Libre 3 from endocrinologist) The G7 was the most accurate. You may have to calibrate it during the 10 days. The Libre 3 you can’t calibrate. I was getting extreme fluctuations within minutes. Low alert for 54. Then one minute later back to 87 (while standing or sitting) there was nothing putting pressure on the Libre. I would have 15-20 random reading in the 40’s and 50’s. While the G7 was consistently giving accurate readings; confirmed with finger pricks. The Libre3 was so inaccurate I removed it 4 days early. I previously used the Libre 2 for several years. Then moved to the G7 since it was released. So I have experience and understand how to use the devices correctly.
